{"id":487,"date":"2018-02-14T16:56:17","date_gmt":"2018-02-14T14:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ege-windturbines.com\/en\/?p=487"},"modified":"2018-02-14T16:56:17","modified_gmt":"2018-02-14T14:56:17","slug":"siemens-gamesa-wins-hornsea-project-two-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ege-windturbines.com\/en\/2018\/02\/14\/siemens-gamesa-wins-hornsea-project-two-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Siemens Gamesa Wins Hornsea Project Two Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section admin_label=&#8221;section&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>UK: Siemens Gamesa will supply turbines for \u00d8rsted&#8217;s 1,386MW Hornsea Project Two, 89km off the east coast of England.<\/p>\n<p>It will provide its SG-8.0-167 DD turbines for what will the world\u2019s biggest offshore wind farm when operational in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The manufacturer will produce the majority of the blades and carry out pre-assembly work at its factory in Hull, north-east England, and also expects towers to be &#8220;partly sourced&#8221; from UK suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>Siemens Gamesa added the nacelles for the turbines would be made at its new factory in Cuxhaven, northern Germany.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d8rsted has previously selected Siemens Gamesa as turbine supplier for several of its UK projects:\u00a0Hornsea Project One, London Array, Race Bank, West of Duddon Sands, Walney Extension East and Westermost Rough.<\/p>\n<p>The two have also teamed up for Anholt off the coast of Denmark, and Borkum Riffgrund 1 and Gode Wind 1 and 2, which are in German waters.<\/p>\n<p>Siemens Gamesa\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpoweroffshore.com\/article\/1451408\/windeurope-2017-siemens-gamesa-unveils-new-offshore-turbine\">unveiled the SG-8.0-167 DD model<\/a>, which has a power-mode option to hit 9MW, at WindEurope\u2019s annual conference in November. \u00a0It will\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpoweroffshore.com\/article\/1451349\/vattenfall-places-900mw-plus-order-new-siemens-gamesa-turbine\">also be used<\/a>\u00a0at Vattenfall\u2019s Kriegers Flak in the Danish Baltic Sea and Vesterhav North and South projects.<\/p>\n<div id=\"advertCentre\">\u00a0The manufacturer claims the turbine\u2019s 81.5 metre-long blades deliver an 18% wider swept area and 20% more annual energy output (AEP) than its predecessor, the SWT-7.0-154.<\/div>\n<p>In its standard 8MW mode, more than 170 units of the SG-8.0-167 DD would be needed to reach Hornsea Project Two\u2019s 1,386MW capacity, while in the turbine\u2019s 9MW power-mode option 154 units would be needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d8rsted had secured a contract for difference (CfD) deal worth \u00a357.50\/MWh (\u20ac64.10\/MWh) for Hornsea Project Two in the UK\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpoweroffshore.com\/article\/1444146\/uk-offshore-falls-5750-latest-cfd-round\">second auction round in September<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 a strike price\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpoweroffshore.com\/article\/1444212\/reaction-uk-offshore-cfd-breakthrough-moment-industry\">50% lower<\/a>\u00a0than those reached in an earlier round two years earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Duncan Clark, \u00d8rsted\u2019s programme director for the project, said: &#8220;Hornsea Project Two is a game-changing renewable energy project in terms of both size and cost, and this selection is an important step in the procurement and construction process.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This month, the developer also began work on a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpoweroffshore.com\/article\/1456996\/orsted-begins-uk-coast-o-m-hub-build\">new operations hub<\/a>\u00a0in north-east England, from where it will serve its North Sea offshore sites, including Hornsea Project Two, and its 1.2GW Hornsea Project One site, currently under construction.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.windpoweroffshore.com\/article\/1457120\/siemens-gamesa-wins-hornsea-project-two-deal\">https:\/\/www.windpoweroffshore.com\/article\/1457120\/siemens-gamesa-wins-hornsea-project-two-deal<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section admin_label=&#8221;section&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;] UK: Siemens Gamesa will supply turbines for \u00d8rsted&#8217;s 1,386MW Hornsea Project Two, 89km off the east coast of England.
