{"id":563,"date":"2018-08-07T13:48:03","date_gmt":"2018-08-07T10:48:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ege-windturbines.com\/en\/?p=563"},"modified":"2018-08-07T13:48:03","modified_gmt":"2018-08-07T10:48:03","slug":"finnish-project-to-use-vestas-cable-tower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ege-windturbines.com\/en\/2018\/08\/07\/finnish-project-to-use-vestas-cable-tower\/","title":{"rendered":"Finnish Project to Use Vestas Cable Tower"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section admin_label=&#8221;section&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<section id=\"articleHead\">\n<header>\n<p class=\"summary\">FINLAND: Vestas will deploy its cable-supported turbine tower at the first merchant onshore wind project in Finland.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"articleWrap\">\n<div id=\"articleFull\">\n<p>Vestas has announced the first deal for its V150-4.2MW turbine also includes the use of its cable-supported tower concept,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1426444\/vestas-installs-new-tower-concept-cable-support\">unveiled in March 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 21MW Tuuliwaati-developed Viinam\u00e4ki project in west Finland will also be the country\u2019s first merchant wind project \u2013 relying on market prices for revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The developer reached a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1465814\/financing-first-finnish-merchant-site\">final investment decision on the project<\/a>\u00a0at the end of May.<\/p>\n<p>To make the Viinam\u00e4ki project financially viable, the developer opted for Vestas\u2019 new V150-4.2MW turbines, which will be among the highest-rated ever installed in Finland.<\/p>\n<p>Tuuliwatti said the production cost of energy from the project will be below \u20ac30\/MWh.<\/p>\n<p>The turbines will be installed on 175-metre towers, supported using ground-anchored cables.<\/p>\n<p>Turbine tip heights would therefore reach 240-250 metres. Vestas claimed this tower concept would allow taller towers for less material that would be needed using traditional methods.<\/p>\n<p>The cables are manufactured in a &#8220;multi-strand system&#8221; as commonly used on bridges, where each cable consists of a bundle of strands made of high-strength steel.<\/p>\n<p>This offers a built-in redundancy, according to the manufacturer.
