{"id":662,"date":"2019-02-18T12:06:32","date_gmt":"2019-02-18T10:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ege-windturbines.com\/en\/?p=662"},"modified":"2019-02-18T12:06:32","modified_gmt":"2019-02-18T10:06:32","slug":"vestas-leads-goldwind-in-2018-onshore-installations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ege-windturbines.com\/en\/2019\/02\/18\/vestas-leads-goldwind-in-2018-onshore-installations\/","title":{"rendered":"Vestas leads Goldwind in 2018 Onshore Installations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section admin_label=&#8221;section&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Vestas extended its market share of onshore wind turbines commissioned last year, while the world&#8217;s total new onshore capacity declined 3%.<\/p>\n<p>The Danish OEM installed 10.09GW worldwide in 2018 \u2014 a 22.2% market share of the 45.4GW installed globally \u2014 according to research by BloombergNEF.<\/p>\n<p>It led a pack of four turbine manufacturers, which accounted for nearly 57% of all onshore installations last year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the top ten accounted for more than 85% of all onshore installations last year.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Big Four\u2019 was completed by Goldwind (6.66GW, 14.6%), GE (4.96GW, 10.9%), and Siemens Gamesa (4.08GW, 8.9%).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/cached.offlinehbpl.hbpl.co.uk\/news\/OPW\/richedit\/BNEFOEMs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Vestas<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1458086\/big-four-dominate-onshore-installations\">\u00a0retained its number one spot<\/a>\u00a0in BNEF\u2019s rankings and increased its market share from 16% to 22% last year. It also beat GE by 44MW in the US, according to BNEF figures.<\/p>\n<p>This came despite six out of every ten GE turbines commissioned last year being in the US, the researchers added.<\/p>\n<p>Siemens Gamesa, meanwhile, dropped from second to fourth place, with its 4.1GW total last year down 40% year on year.<\/p>\n<p>However, BNEF noted that this tally does not include several &#8220;very large&#8221; wind farms partially built but not due online until this year.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s Goldwind rose from third to second place last year, with a strong performance in its domestic market aiding its growth. Just 5% of its 6.66GW was commissioned outside China.<\/p>\n<p>Turbines produced by its fellow Chinese manufacturers Envision (5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0place with 3.28GW), Ming Yang (7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0with 2.44GW), United Power (9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0with 1.29GW) and Windey (10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0with 940MW) were only commissioned in Asia-Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>Two European manufacturers Enercon (6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0place with 2.53GW) and Nordex (8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0place with 2.43GW) completed the BNEF\u2019s top ten.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Harries, a senior wind analyst at BNEF and lead author of the report &#8216;Global Wind Turbine Market Shares&#8217;,\u00a0noted a greater capacity of Vestas and Nordex\u2019s turbines were commissioned in the Americas than in European markets closer to home.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 24.2GW was turned on in Asia-Pacific, of which 19.3GW was in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/china\">\u00a0China<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, 11.7GW was commissioned in the Americas, 8.5GW in Europe and 1GW in Africa and the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>The 45.4GW turned on last year marks a 3% drop from the 47GW installed in 2017, BNEF stated.<\/p>\n<p>It added that this slowdown was due to declining commissioning rates in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/india\">India<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/germany\">Germany<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the 3% decrease last year, BNEF expected the onshore wind industry to bounce back in 2019 and 2020 off the back of competitive pricing, additional products and services and new financing models, its head of wind research David Hostert said.<\/p>\n<p>BNEF forecast demand for new onshore wind capacity of about 60GW in both 2019 and 2020 \u2014 a 32% increase on installations in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Hostert added: &#8220;A lot of this impressive-sounding volume rides on extremely competitive pricing, add-on products and services, and new financing models.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This will be tough to deliver for the &#8216;Big Four&#8217;, let alone the smaller turbine makers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1525792\/vestas-leads-goldwind-2018-onshore-installations\">https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1525792\/vestas-leads-goldwind-2018-onshore-installations<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section admin_label=&#8221;section&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;] Vestas extended its market share of onshore wind turbines commissioned last year, while the world&#8217;s total new onshore capacity declined 3%.
