{"id":680,"date":"2019-03-26T13:31:02","date_gmt":"2019-03-26T11:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ege-windturbines.com\/en\/?p=680"},"modified":"2019-03-26T13:31:02","modified_gmt":"2019-03-26T11:31:02","slug":"nordex-launches-5mw-turbine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ege-windturbines.com\/en\/2019\/03\/26\/nordex-launches-5mw-turbine\/","title":{"rendered":"Nordex launches 5MW Turbine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section admin_label=&#8221;section&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Nordex has entered the 5MW class with a new turbine, the third model in its Delta4000 platform.<\/p>\n<p>The N149\/5.X can achieve a power output of 5.5MW while operating at a low sound power level, or in higher power modes where sound restrictions are not in place.<\/p>\n<p>It uses the same rotor blade, doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) and exterior nacelle dimensions as in the N149\/4.0-4.5,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1443226\/nordex-takes-delta-series-4mw\">the first model announced in the Delta4000<\/a>\u00a0platform, Nordex stated.<\/p>\n<p>However, the manufacturer added it scaled up the electrical system and used a new gearbox to enable the N149\/5.X to achieve a higher power rating.<\/p>\n<p>The turbine can be installed with a range of different tower options up to 164 metres, Nordex said. Series production of the N149\/5.X is due to start in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>It is aimed at core markets in Europe, and also &#8220;global growth regions&#8221; including South Africa, Australia and South America.<\/p>\n<p>The model can be operated in different power modes in the 5MW range and in a range of sound power modes, Nordex added.<\/p>\n<p>It can achieve a power output of 5.5MW while operating with a sound power level of 104.8dB(A), but can also be run in higher power modes at sites where emission levels are not critical, Nordex said.<\/p>\n<p>The turbine can also be modified for cold climates featuring an anti-icing system for blades, enabling operation in temperatures down to -30C.<\/p>\n<p>More information about the N149\/5.X will be revealed at WindEurope\u2019s European Wind Energy Conference in Bilbao,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/spain\">Spain<\/a>\u00a0next week (2-4 April).<\/p>\n<h4>Delta4000<\/h4>\n<p>Since it\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1443226\/nordex-takes-delta-series-4mw\">launched the platform<\/a>\u00a0in September 2017, Nordex has received orders totalling more than 700MW.<\/p>\n<p>In mid-March, Nordex\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1579326\/nordex-delta4000-production-line-begins-rolling\">started series production<\/a>\u00a0of the turbine range at its production facility in Rostock, Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The maunfacturer\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1491092\/nordex-spread-its-wings-n149-prototype\">installed a prototype<\/a>\u00a0of the first Delta4000 turbine, the N149\/4.0-4.5, in August 2018.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1580132\/nordex-launches-5mw-turbine\">https:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/article\/1580132\/nordex-launches-5mw-turbine<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section admin_label=&#8221;section&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;] Nordex has entered the 5MW class with a new turbine, the third model in its Delta4000 platform.
